Tahitian Pearl Necklaces

The dark color is the oyster's own. Every strand here is from French Polynesia, matched by hand, and no two are the same, which is why we list the exact millimeter range of each one rather than rounding it. Choose by shape and grade below. Every strand is photographed on the site. If you want more images, a short video, or two or three strands compared side by side, just ask.

Choosing a Tahitian strand

Four things decide what a strand looks like on you and what it costs.

Shape

Round is the rarest and prices accordingly. Drop and baroque cost less and move more light, because an irregular surface has more angles to work with. A good baroque strand is not a compromise. It is a preference, and most people who see them love them.

Size

Tahitians start around 8 mm and run past 16 mm. Each strand is listed with its measured range because the size determines the look and much of the value. 8 to 11 mm is the classic range, and every millimeter above that costs disproportionately more.

Overtone

Body color runs black through silver, and the overtone sitting on top is what people fall for. Peacock is the famous one, green the most common, silver the most wearable in daylight. Aubergine and pistachio turn up and go quickly.

Grade and clasp

AA+ through AAA, and we also list AA+/AAA where a strand sits honestly between the two. Clasps run from a simple polished ball to an 18K diamond clasp, chosen on the product page.

Before you buy

Is the dark color natural?

Yes. The black-lipped oyster lays down dark nacre on its own, so the body color and the overtone are the pearl's. Nothing here is dyed, tinted or irradiated.

Why is every size range different?

Because every strand is different. A Tahitian strand is assembled from pearls that were graded and matched individually, so we measure the actual strand and publish that range rather than rounding it into a category. It makes the page harder to skim and it is the honest way to list them.

What does the overtone actually change?

How the strand reads in a room. A peacock overtone throws green and rose depending on the light. Silver is quieter and easier to wear every day. Green sits between them and is the most common. If you want to be certain before you buy, ask and we will send more photographs or a short video.

Can I choose the length and the clasp?

Yes to both. Every strand is knotted to order on twin silk, so the listed length is a starting point. If you want a 17 inch, a 20 inch or a rope, tell us and we will tell you what the strand allows. Clasps are chosen on the product page and run up to 18K diamond clasps. Everything is solid gold, never gold-plated, and any diamonds are natural.

Can I see the exact strand, and can you match earrings to it?

Every strand is already photographed, and we will happily send more images, a short video, or two or three strands side by side so you can compare. And if you order earrings, a pendant or a bracelet at the same time, we match those pearls to the strand before anything is set, at no charge. Matching a Tahitian months later is genuinely harder.

Overtone is the one thing a photograph cannot settle

Book twenty minutes and we will turn strands in the light for you, tell you what the camera is flattering, and say honestly which one we would keep.
