11.6–15.0 mm round Tahitian pearl and diamond necklace
31 round Tahitian pearls · green-purple peacock overtone · 23.9 momme · approx. 16.5 inches · platinum diamond clasp (tapered and baguette diamonds, 2.47 ctw) · hand-knotted on silk
A fine peacock Tahitian strand of thirty-one round pearls measuring 11.6 to 15.0 mm. The pearls carry a medium-dark green natural bodycolor with rich purple peacock overtones that shift visibly as the light moves across them. Sharp luster and clean surfaces give the strand a powerful, cohesive presence.
Peacock is the most prized of all Tahitian colors, and the rarest to find true. It is not a single color but a play between green and purple that moves and changes with the light, alive on the surface of the pearl. That shifting quality is what separates a genuine peacock strand from one that simply looks dark, and it is something a photograph can only hint at. Each pearl here was matched for that color play and overtone, the kind of selection Assael was known for.
Finished at approximately 16.5 inches with a platinum clasp set with tapered and baguette diamonds totaling 2.47 carats, hand-knotted on silk.
The color shift of a true peacock strand comes alive only in person, where the green and purple move with the light. We'd be glad to arrange a private viewing, at our Los Angeles vault or by virtual appointment.
A museum-caliber strand from the Assael Collection, held in our Los Angeles vault. Once it sells, it will not be available again.
