Pearl Rings

Every pearl ring we make, across all four pearl types. A ring takes more wear than anything else you own, which makes the choice of pearl matter more here than anywhere else on the site. Filter by type, color and pearl size below.

Which pearl should you buy?

Four types, four different jobs. Nothing here is better than anything else.

Freshwater

The most size for the money, and the only pearl with natural pink, peach and lavender. A freshwater pearl is nacre nearly all the way through, which makes it the most forgiving choice for a ring you intend to wear often.

Akoya

The sharpest luster of any pearl, usually 6 to 9.5 mm. Akoya carries the thinnest nacre of the four, so an akoya ring suits occasional wear better than daily wear.

Tahitian

Dark natural color and thick, durable nacre. Large enough to carry a ring on its own and tough enough to take real use. Peacock and green overtones read quite differently in white gold than in yellow.

South Sea

The largest pearls anyone cultures, in white or natural gold, with the thickest nacre of the four. A South Sea ring is a statement piece and is priced as one.

Before you buy

Can a pearl ring be worn every day?

It depends on the pearl and on your hands. Pearls are softer than the stones people are used to in rings, and a hand takes more knocks than a neck or an ear. Freshwater, Tahitian and South Sea all carry thick nacre and hold up well. A thin-nacre akoya is the most delicate of the four. Whatever you buy, take it off before washing up, gardening or the gym, put it on last after lotion and perfume, and never use an ultrasonic cleaner.

What ring size should I order?

Order the size you normally wear. If you are not sure, have it measured at any jeweler rather than guessing from a printed chart. Rings are made to order, so tell us before you order if you need a size outside the range shown and we will tell you what the setting allows.

What pearl size suits a ring?

Between 8 and 10 mm sits comfortably on most hands and clears a knuckle without catching. Above 11 mm the pearl becomes the whole piece, which is the point of a South Sea or Tahitian ring but is worth trying on first. Smaller than 8 mm reads delicate and works well stacked with other rings.

Are all these colors natural?

Yes. Freshwater comes naturally in white, pink, peach and lavender. Tahitian grows dark on its own. South Sea comes in white and natural gold, and we do not sell treated golden South Sea. Every color on this page is the pearl's own.

Can you match a ring to other pieces I am buying?

We already do. If you order a ring at the same time as a necklace, earrings, a pendant or a bracelet, we match the pearls to each other before anything is set. You do not have to ask and there is no charge for it.

Still deciding?

Our specialists will show you pearls on camera and talk you through what you are looking at. Most appointments run about twenty minutes.
