Last year, we had the incredible chance to visit Lake Kasumi ga Ura in Japan and witness something truly special—the harvest of some of the world’s most distinctive freshwater pearls. Hisano went live from the pearl farm with Sarah Canizzaro of Kojima Pearl, joined by the legendary Mr. Yoneguchi—Japan’s last remaining freshwater pearl farmer. It was a night we won’t forget, and the response was overwhelming—almost everything sold out in a single evening.

We’ve been invited back again, and this time, we’re bringing you two livestreams: one on April 20th (Easter Sunday) and another on April 21st. Whether you're winding down after Easter dinner or tuning in Monday night, we’d love for you to join us for this rare window into a time-honored tradition.

What makes this event so meaningful is the presence of Mr. Yoneguchi himself. He produces just a few kilos of these pearls each year, entirely on his own. At his age, each harvest becomes even more precious. These pearls are not only remarkably scarce—they're full of character, depth, and individuality.

We’re also honored to be joined by Fuji Voll of Pacific Pearls—a true icon in the pearl world and a lifelong friend of Mr. Yoneguchi. Every year, Fuji is the sole buyer of the Japan Kasumi harvest, preserving and sharing these gems through his deep and longstanding relationships in the trade. Pacific Pearls, founded by his father Rudolf Voll in post-war Japan, played a pioneering role in introducing Japanese freshwater pearls to the Western world—well before Chinese production began. At the time, demand from Middle Eastern buyers had nearly exhausted supplies. While gemologist Robert Crowningshield did attempt to introduce these pearls in the U.S., his efforts were largely overlooked—until the Voll family helped open the market.

As for this year’s harvest: Sarah describes it as filled with “electric luster pairs and some of the most vivid greens I have EVER seen!” It’s also a larger harvest than last year, which means more variety and some truly fun color ways.

Together with Sarah, Fuji, and Mr. Yoneguchi, We’ll will be sharing the story of these exceptional pearls—from their quiet origin at the farm to finished pieces of jewelry. We’ll also be unveiling a new collection selected from this year’s harvest.

We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a memorable and meaningful experience.
