What AAA means on this strand

Our akoya grades consider luster, shape, surface, nacre and matching together, and luster is what they turn on. There is no universal akoya standard, so AAA means different things at different companies and the letters alone are not worth much. Ours is an internal standard.

  • ABright luster that goes hazy at the edges. Round to near round, 75 to 85% clean, with thin nacre.
  • AA+Bright, with the edge of a reflection nearly sharp. Round, 85 to 95% clean, with medium nacre.
  • AAAThis piece. Bright and sharp. Round, 95% clean or better, with visibly thick nacre and close matching.
  • HanadamaCertified in Japan by an independent laboratory, then selected by us from the upper end of that range. Hanadama is a quality range rather than a single level, so two certified strands can differ considerably.

"Impressive Customer Service. High quality pearls. Although there are no standard rating scale in the industry, Pearl Paradise' AAA grade is true to its classification. Very fast shipping ( Internal Shipping in my case) and Makenna from Client Service was very efficient, patient and took time and care to respond to all queries. My only constructive feedback will be regarding the packaging. If Pearl Paradise can invest into a bit more "Premium Packaging" it will enhance the buying experience. The pouch provided was acceptable quality but was a bit pedestrian in nature and does not match the premium product inside. A higher quality packaging will enhance the customer buying experience. I am not deducting a rating for this feedback and am acknowledging a 5 star rating. Thanks"
