12.0–14.5 mm round aubergine Tahitian pearl and diamond necklace
33 round Tahitian pearls · dark aubergine overtone · 28.2 momme · approx. 18.75 inches · 18K white gold diamond clasp (40 diamonds, 3.01 ctw)
An exceptional dark Tahitian strand. Thirty-three round pearls measuring 12.0 to 14.5 mm, with very dark natural bodycolor lit by intense aubergine overtones, one of the rarest and most coveted color expressions Tahiti produces. Thick nacre and exceptional luster give the strand real depth, and the pearls are matched evenly for color and overtone across the full length.
Color is what defines a great Tahitian strand. Dark pearls are common enough, but an overtone this rich, a deep aubergine glowing over near-black, held consistent across every pearl, is the rare achievement. It is also the quality a photograph flattens and a specification cannot describe. Each pearl on this strand was chosen and matched for that darkness and that overtone, the kind of selection Assael was known for.
Finished at approximately 18.75 inches with an 18K white gold clasp set with 40 natural diamonds totaling 3.01 carats.
The depth of an aubergine overtone like this only reveals itself in person, where the purple comes alive against the dark surface. We'd be glad to arrange a private viewing, at our Los Angeles vault or by virtual appointment.
A museum-caliber strand from the Assael Collection, held in our Los Angeles vault. Once it sells, it will not be available again.
