15.0–18.5 mm round white South Sea pearl and diamond necklace
50 round white South Sea pearls · pink overtone · 82.0 momme · approx. 34.25 inches · platinum diamond ball clasp (60 diamonds, 7.60 ctw)
One of the most significant strands in the entire collection. Fifty perfectly round white South Sea pearls measuring 15.0 to 18.5 mm, strung to a full double length of 34.25 inches, with an extraordinary total weight of 82.0 momme. A choker-length strand of round whites at this size is rare enough. Fifty of them, matched across more than thirty-four inches, is a feat almost no inventory in the world could produce.
The pearls carry a luminous white bodycolor warmed by a subtle pink overtone, with thick nacre and exceptional luster. At this level, size and roundness are only the foundation. What truly distinguishes a strand is the depth of its luster and the character of its overtone, the living glow of the surface and the quiet color within it, and on this strand those qualities reach a rare height. They are also the qualities a specification cannot convey. Each pearl was selected and matched for exactly this, over the kind of patient work that defined Assael.
Finished at approximately 34.25 inches with a substantial platinum clasp set with 60 natural diamonds totaling 7.60 carats.
A strand of this stature is best understood in person, where the pink overtone and the luster come fully alive. We'd welcome the chance to arrange a private viewing, at our Los Angeles vault or by virtual appointment.
A museum-caliber strand from the Assael Collection, held in our Los Angeles vault. Once it sells, it will not be available again.
