Our grades consider luster, shape, surface and matching together, and luster is what they turn on. For surface we describe what the piece actually looks like rather than quoting a clean percentage. At these sizes a piece will almost always carry some marking, and a number cannot tell you whether that marking matters.

  • AA+Medium to high luster with some variation in shape. More marking, sometimes accepted for the beauty of the piece as a whole.

The pendant is hand-made in our Los Angeles studio to our own exacting specifications We choose a colorful, smooth Tahitian pearl drop, hand-drill it and attach it securely to the setting to it dangles effortlessly beneath the waterfall of sparkling diamonds.

For decades our buying team has traveled to French Polynesia sourcing these rare and exotic pearls. They are grown in a large oyster known as the black-lip, which is the only pearl oyster that grows these 100% natural color gems.
