This is among the finest white South Sea strands in the world. Twenty-three round pearls, every one between 16.0 and 20.0 mm, all with the luminous bodycolor, thick nacre, and deep mirror luster that define the very top of South Sea production. A round white South Sea pearl reaching 20 mm is about as large as the species produces, and a full strand of twenty-three at this scale sits at the absolute peak of what is possible.
At this level, size is only the beginning. What separates the greatest strands is luster and overtone, the depth of the glow and the subtle color that plays across the surface.
