Our 8.5-9.0 mm akoya pearl earrings are a classic pair of earrings. This size is considered larger in the range of akoya pearls. The pearls are perfectly round with excellent luster and shimmering overtones, a statement to their quality. The posts and backs are composed of solid 14-karat gold, and the size of backing is the perfect complement to the size of pearl, ensuring proper fit and wear.
Akoya pearls are known for their perfect round shape and unmistakable luster unique to akoya pearls grown in the cold coastal waters of Japan. The finest pearls from this region are known for their mirror-like luster and smooth surfaces – qualities you will clearly see the moment you open the box.
For more than a decade, we’ve imported akoya pearls from just two sources in Japan. This is the only way to guarantee the pearls have grown for two full seasons – a farming technique known as “koshimono.” This is important because it directly affects the nacre thickness, or the durability of your pearls. You want your pearls to last a lifetime, and you want to be able to pass them down from generation to generation. Two seasons of growth guarantees you will.
