Our akoya pearl grading: What makes it different

There are no universal grading standards for akoya pearls, and two strands with the same letter grade from different companies will often look completely different. We hand select and grade every pearl in-house using our own strict internal criteria, built over 25 years of working closely with our partners in Japan.

What our grades mean

AAA is reserved for pearls that meet the highest thresholds for roundness, mirror-like luster, and clean surfaces throughout the strand. AA+ represents a level of quality that exceeds what is typically associated with this grade, chosen for bright luster, clean surfaces, and consistent shape.
