Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, June 2014

Although it just seems like yesterday, we are headed back to Asia once again for one of the large, Jewelry and Gem shows in Hong Kong, taking place from June 19th through the 22nd.

In March, we brought team member Lynsey with us to experience what a pearl-sourcing trip is really like. This time we're going to bring a team member who has been with us for nearly a decade now - Elia! This is Elia's first trip ever to Asia, and we're excited to have her along. She is going to be working on product sourcing for our July promotion and the September Connoisseur promotion.

We have one busy week ahead of us, but as always, if there is something special or something particular you would like us to look for, please drop us an email. We will do our best!

Jeremy & Hisano

  • Jeremy

I just checked it out. It’s a bit difficult to make out, but I think that was sort of a “station-style” necklace. Hisano doesn’t think they are keshi. They are probably just really small freshwater because the large pearl is a single, dark Edison.

  • CathyKeshi

It was on the Connoisseur Chat from August 1, 2013 at 29.52 – 30.00 but as the video is blurry I may have misunderstood. I thought the entire “chain” was 2 -3mm little keshi pearls, but might just have been stations of pearls. I have seen an entire “chain” of very tiny pearls a few times though. Hisano said earlier today she thinks she has some strands, so don’t worry bout looking through the chat. I’m sure you’ll find quite wonderful treasures we haven’t even imagined! Safe Travels and Happy Pearl Hunting!

  • Jeremy

Did you know where (what minute) in the video it was?

  • CathyKeshi

The strand I saw was on the Pearl Chat from late July, 2013 but the video is blurry so hard to be sure if it was akoya or … ? It was a longer necklace with some sort of bigger pearl pendant on, but it was the “chain” I loved … teeny, tiny glitzy little pearls made into a chain to hang any pendant on … WOW! Safe Travels and Happy Pearl Hunting :)

  • Jeremy

Akoya keshi should be easy. Tiny Tahitian with orient and luster might be a bit more difficult.

  • CathyKeshi

Tiny little akoya or Tahitian Keshi strands with beautiful luster and orient ?

  • Jeremy

    She’s good at finding those;)

  • Sheri Steele

I would like a big flameball fan shaped pearl for a pendant. I asked Hisano to add me to her list for this.

  • Kathe

I love some of those blue akoyas!

  • Jeremy

We actually might have this. We matched a couple strands at the last show in March. I’ll have to check with ‘the boss’ to see if we still have those!

  • Terry

I would love some very large non metallic white fireballs to make a strand necklace that have beautiful luster and orient, please!

  • Jeremy

You know I’ll grab it for you if I find it, Sheri :)

  • Sheri

GIANT HUMONGOUS MONSTROUS color-shifting oilslick Edison, please.

  • Jeremy Shepherd

    Hi Joanne -

we looked for similar pearls and these were the closest we were able to find.

The one on the far right is already spoken for, but please give us a call if any of the others work.

  • Jeremy

That is definitely a tougher one but I am going to try. I’d never seen a freshwater pearl like that one before in natural color.

  • Joanne

I absolutely adore the Adore pendant in rose gold from this post: http://blog.pearlparadise.com/2014/03/my-favorite-finds-from-hong-kong-march-trip/
I’ve already spoken to someone at PP by chat to request it be added to your wishlist, but wanted to make sure you saw this and am crossing my fingers that you’ll find something similar to it. :)

  • Jeremy

Done! Blue akoya pearls are on our list!

  • Candice

Blue Akoya pearls! I would love to see a blue akoya pearl on a rose gold chain bracelet like the Cherish Collection bracelet!
