We have something rare to share with you.

The Assael coral collection has arrived at our Los Angeles office, and it will only be with us for one month. After that, it leaves the United States for good.

This isn’t a collection we went out and sourced. It came to us through our work with Assael’s pearls over the past year, and it’s something different, even within fine coral.

Christina Assael built it with Enzo Liverino in Torre del Greco, where his family has worked coral for generations. Christina and Enzo served together on the CIBJO coral commission, and he curated the collection for her personally. It’s really his life’s work in coral, put together for someone who understands it the same way he does.

Hisano will be reviewing the collection live, May 6th at 3:00 pm, Pacific.

She'll walk through the pieces in detail and cover what makes each of the three coral types special.

Angel Skin is a light pink to peach-colored type of Corallium elatius found in the Pacific Ocean off the coasts of Japan and Taiwan. It is now extremely restricted, and new production is only a tiny fraction of what it once was. The Assael collection is older, pre-restriction coral from Liverino's family collection.

Sciacca coral can't be collected because it isn't living, it’s subfossilized. The Sicilian coral beds were destroyed by submarine volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. They were discovered around 1875 and the coral was collected by the early 20th century. These Assael pieces are from one of the last few collections.

Sardinian coral is the red Mediterranean coral that has been carved in Torre del Greco for more than five hundred years. It ranges in color from pale rose to rich oxblood. Because it grows slowly in deep water, it is dense and deeply colored. These Assael specimens are large beads cut from Liverino's long family history.

The collection includes strands and finished jewelry across all three types, from smaller pieces to exceptional, museum-level examples. After the livestream, the pieces will remain in our office for private viewings, virtual or in person, by appointment.

Everything is being offered well below Assael retail under circumstances that will not occur again.
