What AAA means on this strand

Our grades consider luster, shape, surface and matching together, and luster is what they turn on. For surface we describe what the piece actually looks like rather than quoting a clean percentage. At these sizes a piece will almost always carry some marking, and a number cannot tell you whether that marking matters.

  • ALow to medium luster, noticeable variation from the stated shape, and marking readily visible across the piece.
  • AA+Medium to high luster with some variation in shape. More marking, sometimes accepted for the beauty of the piece as a whole.
  • AA+/AAAVery high luster, closely conforming to its stated shape. Most pearls very clean, with a few carrying more. The combined grade describes variation in surface, not mixed luster or an inconsistently matched strand.
  • AAAThis piece. Very high luster, closely conforming to its stated shape, clean overall with any marking minor enough not to draw the eye.

Fourteen AAA white South Sea drop pearls · 18K white gold · 26 moonstones (32.97 ctw) · approx. 34 inches

This necklace features fourteen AAA-quality white South Sea drop pearls measuring approximately 12.0–12.8 mm. The pearls display bright natural white bodycolor, smooth surface quality, and strong, even luster. Their drop shapes add presence and subtle movement, giving the necklace a refined yet substantial visual character.

The pearls are paired with twenty-six moonstones totaling 32.97 carats. The moonstones exhibit a soft, translucent glow with gentle adularescence, creating a luminous counterpoint to the crisp luster of the South Sea pearls. Crafted in 18K white gold, the setting and chain give the piece weight and structure while maintaining a fluid, wearable drape at approximately 34 inches.

A one-of-a-kind necklace, matched and assembled by Assael and impossible to reproduce. Once it sells, it will not be made again.
