Most of our livestream fans know Hisano Shepherd as the Creative Director at Pearl Paradise. She's the creative force behind so many of the designs you see in our collections and the host of our livestreams. What many don’t realize is that she's also a globally recognized jewelry designer whose independent work changed the way the world looks at pearls, elevating them into the realm of contemporary art.
Back in 2012, Hisano launched her own line called little h. With it, she introduced something no one had ever seen before: Pearl Geodes. She sliced pearls in half, carefully hollowed the interiors, and set them with gemstones so they sparkled like geodes on one side while still glowing like pearls on the other. This daring combination of pearls and colored gems won her more than a dozen domestic and international awards. Her celebrity clientele included Olivia Wilde, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and even First Lady Michelle Obama.
In 2019, Hisano retired her independent line to focus full-time on leading the Pearl Paradise creative team. Since then, little h has become something of a legend in the jewelry world—a cult favorite that resurfaces only when Hisano shares it privately with in-house clients.
That’s what makes this upcoming livestream so special.
On Wednesday, October 22nd at 3:00 PM PST, Hisano will be showcasing a small collection of little h jewelry. Every piece is completely one-of-a-kind and will be offered at wholesale pricing. Once sold, there will never be another.
She will also present a few extraordinary soufflé pearl strands—a rarity that may never appear again. Soufflé pearls were an unusual, almost accidental creation that first appeared in 2009. Farmers originally grew them using an earthen-like substance inside the pearl sac. When drilled, the material could be removed, leaving a hollow pearl that was light in weight but striking in size and luster. They were never intentionally produced for long; once farmers refined other methods for growing large pearls, soufflés were abandoned and haven't been created in more than a decade.
During her little h years, Hisano collected the very best of these loose soufflé pearls from Asia, selecting them specifically for her geode designs. When she retired the line, she still had a small cache of unmatched gems. Now, for this event, three strands have been carefully drilled and matched—likely the only super-fine soufflé strands available in the world today.
