Pearl Sets
Every pearl set we make, across all four pearl types. Some are three pieces, a necklace with a bracelet and earrings. Others pair a pendant with matching earrings. Buying as a set is the most reliable way to get pieces that genuinely match, because we match the pearls to each other before anything is strung or set.
Which pearl should you buy?
Four types, four different jobs. Nothing here is better than anything else.
Freshwater
The most pearl for the money, and the only type that comes in natural pink, peach and lavender. A freshwater set is the usual answer for a first set, a bridesmaid gift or a graduation.
Akoya
The classic white set, and the sharpest luster of any pearl. Usually 6 to 9.5 mm. This is what most people picture when they picture a pearl set, and it is the standard answer for a bride.
Tahitian
Dark natural color in peacock, green and silver. Most people buy a Tahitian strand on its own or with earrings, which is why we list them that way, but we match bracelets on request and do it regularly.
South Sea
The largest pearls anyone cultures, in white or natural gold. As with Tahitian, most people buy the strand on its own or with earrings, and we match bracelets and other pieces on request.
Before you buy
What comes in a set?
It depends on the set. A three-piece set is a necklace, a bracelet and a pair of earrings. The rest are a pendant with matching earrings. The product title tells you which, and the product page lists every piece before you order.
Why buy a set rather than the pieces separately?
Two reasons. The first is matching. Two pieces bought months apart can be the same size and the same grade and still look like they do not belong together, because luster, surface and overtone will not agree. Everything in a set is matched from the same material before anything is strung or set. The second is that a set is two or three pieces of jewelry rather than one. Each piece works on its own and they work together, which gives you far more ways to wear them.
Can I change a length or swap an earring style?
Usually. Everything is made to order rather than pulled off a shelf, so if you want the necklace at 17 inches, or studs instead of dangles, ask us before you order and we will tell you what is possible and what it changes.
Can you build a set that is not listed here?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. Tell us the pearl type, the size and the budget and we will put a set together and photograph it before anything is made. There is no charge for that and no obligation to buy.
Are all these colors natural?
Almost all of them. Freshwater comes naturally in white, pink, peach and lavender. Tahitian grows dark on its own. South Sea comes in white and natural gold. The one exception across the site is black freshwater, which does not occur in nature and is always dyed. We say so on those product pages.
