What AAA means on this pendant

Our grades consider luster, shape, surface and matching together, and luster is what they turn on. For surface we describe what the piece actually looks like rather than quoting a clean percentage. At these sizes a piece will almost always carry some marking, and a number cannot tell you whether that marking matters.

  • ALow to medium luster, noticeable variation from the stated shape, and marking readily visible across the piece.
  • AA+Medium to high luster with some variation in shape. More marking, sometimes accepted for the beauty of the piece as a whole.
  • AA+/AAAVery high luster, closely conforming to its stated shape. Most pearls very clean, with a few carrying more. The combined grade describes variation in surface, not mixed luster or an inconsistently matched strand.
  • AAAThis piece. Very high luster, closely conforming to its stated shape, clean overall with any marking minor enough not to draw the eye.

This elegant pendant features a gem-quality White South Sea pearl paired with the brilliance of diamonds. A luminous 11.0–12.0 mm pearl is set beneath three round brilliant-cut VS1–G diamonds totaling 0.15 cttw, creating a design that is refined, balanced, and timeless.

Each pendant is hand-made in our Los Angeles studio to exacting standards, with diamonds of a grade typically reserved for engagement rings—rarely seen in accent stones. The simple 14k gold setting allows the pearl’s size and natural beauty to take center stage.

White South Sea pearls are among the rarest and most valuable pearls in the world. Cultivated in the silver-lip oyster in the pristine waters of Northwestern Australia, they are prized for their exceptional nacre thickness, large size, and natural white body color.
