This 7.5–8.0 mm hanadama akoya pearl set includes a matching necklace and pair of earrings, selected from the highest range of quality within this classic size.
Hanadama is not a single grade, but a range of fine-quality akoya pearls. When we encounter strands that stand apart for their luster, surface quality, and overall balance, we submit them to the Gemological Institute of America for hanadama certification.
GIA applies a more stringent evaluation standard than the Pearl Science Laboratory of Japan. While many hanadama strands certified by PSL would not qualify under GIA’s criteria, any strand that earns GIA hanadama certification would meet or exceed PSL’s requirements.
The standard version of the necklace is finished with a solid 14K gold clasp with a safety hook. An optional 18K diamond clasp is also available, set with seven natural diamonds of VS1–G quality with a total weight of 0.21 carats.
Please note: all strands are GIA-certified at 18 inches. If you select a 16-inch length, the necklace will be shortened and the remaining pearls will be included loose so the total pearl count matches the GIA certificate.
