This 7.5-8.0 mm natural white hanadama akoya pearl necklace represents the top range of the hanadama category. The sharp luster and rainbow iridescence of these pearls set them apart from every other grade of akoya.
Hanadama is not a single grade but a range. Every harvest produces a small number of pearls that are separated from the rest and submitted for hanadama certification, and even within that group there is a quality spread. For decades we have worked with the same family-run farms in Japan, who select hanadama specifically for us from the top of that range. Every strand is then graded again by our Chief Creative Officer, Hisano, before it is offered for sale.
Most akoya pearls are lightly pinked after harvest to enhance their color. Natural white akoya pearls are selected for their naturally white body color and fine luster and skip that treatment entirely.
The pearls are ungraduated and individually knotted on twin silk. The necklace is available in 16-inch and 18-inch lengths. At 18 inches it sits at or just below the collarbone.
The necklace is finished with your choice of a solid 14K gold ball clasp or an 18K gold clasp set with natural diamonds. Every clasp has a safety hook.
Each strand is accompanied by a uniquely numbered, laminated pearl quality report from the Pearl Science Laboratory of Japan, which also confirms that no color treatment has been applied.
Please note: all strands are PSL-certified at 18 inches. If you select a 16-inch length, the necklace will be shortened and the remaining pearls will be included loose so the total pearl count matches the PSL certificate.
