Akoya pearls are known for their perfect round shape and brilliant luster unique to akoya pearls grown in the cold coastal waters of Japan. The finest pearls from this region are known for their mirror-like luster and smooth surfaces – qualities you will clearly see the moment you open the box.
We import akoya pearls from just two farms in Japan. This is the only way we can guarantee the pearls have grown for two full seasons – a farming technique known as “koshimono.” This is important because it directly affects the nacre thickness, or the durability of your pearls. You want your pearls to last a lifetime, and you want to be able to pass them down from generation to generation. Two seasons of growth guarantees you will.
The pearls measure 8.5-9.0 mm, which is in the more prominent size range for akoya pearls, but is very wearable, especially as a "from day-to-night" strand of pearls. The necklace is 18 inches, so it will lay just below your collar bone. Each pearl is individually knotted on twin silk and the necklace is finished with a solid gold safety clasp. Your pearls will never rub against each other and your necklace will always be secure.
