Yesterday we held the anticipated final Fiji raffle. Congratulations Pearl-Guide member JulieBeth!
Julie has been a member of Pearl-Guide's community forum since March of 2013. She loves and designs with pearls. Some of her work can be seen here on Etsy.
We shot a video of the drawing and there is a surprise at the end!
Who wants to take the next Pearl Trip of a Lifetime to ... ??? :)
Two weeks ago we blogged about the CPAA trip to visit the JHunter Pearl Farm in Fiji. I've been there. The place is amazingly beautiful and I really wanted someone who truly loves and appreciates pearls to go. Last week I decided to take a chance and purchase 1000 tickets for our Pearl Friends on Pearl-Guide.com's forum.
We won :) We are going to hold a second raffle for current and active members of Pearl-Guide the week after Christmas. Someone is going to Fiji!
If you're a current PG'er, get on this thread :)
The CPAA is doing it again. A raffle for a priceless trip to a remote, exotic pearl farm. Last year it was a trip to the Philippines and this year it will be Tahiti. I was just contacted by the CPAA to ask for help in promoting the raffle. It ends in less than a week and they haven't sold many tickets. You know what that means, right? ;-) The odds are excellent! The host of this year's pearl farm trip is my dear friend Josh Humbert of the Kamoka Pearl Farm on Ahe in French Polynesia. His operation is one of the most eco-friendly on the planet and he's an all around great guy. This would be the trip...
I'd like to personally wish everyone the best of luck with the upcoming drawing for the trip of a lifetime to Flower Island in the Philippines!
On the 15th, I offered tickets to anyone and everyone that would like the chance to win, and we also gave some away in a contest and on our Facebook page. This weekend I am taking this giant stack of ticket stubs to the JCK Jewelry Show in Las Vegas to deliver them to the Cultured Pearl Association of America. The drawing happens this weekend!
Some of you may recall that I blogged about the 'Pearl Trip Around the World' that took me to pearl farms in China, Japan, the Philippines, Fiji and French Polynesia. Our short documentary The Tahitian Pearl followed this trip, and eventually I plan to use the footage from the rest of the trip for something even bigger and better. I just need to find a 4-5 month window of extra time to put the work in! During the trip there was one destination that stood out among the others as one of the most exotic, beautiful and far-flung places I've ever visited - Jewelmer's Flower Island in Palawan, The Philippines. To reach Flower Island, we flew by helicopter for hours...
